IRCON International wins ₹338 crore track work contract for Chennai Metro Phase 2

Chennai, India (Urban Transport News): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) opened the financial bids for the contract package C4-TRK-01 on 26th November, 2021 for the track installation work on 16 km high section of Poonamallee bypass to power house ramp and 10 km underground section in Corridor 4. was called for. of Chennai Metro Rail Project (Phase-II).

As per the financial bid results, Indian Railways’ EPC firm IRCON International emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) among the other three bidders who submitted their bids against the track work contract package. The financial position of each bidder is as under:-

  • IRCON International: Rs 337.76 crore (L1)
  • Texmaco-KEC International JV: Rs 402.25 crore (L2)
  • Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T): Rs 404.08 crore (L3)
  • Alstom Transport India: Rs 469.67 crore (L4)

As per the contract notice, the scope of supply, installation, testing and commissioning of track works of standard gauge including, but not limited to, Light House Station in the Corridor and all associated works in the underground and elevated sections between Poonamallee Bypass Station and Poonamallee Depot There are- 4 Chennai Metro Rail Project- Phase-II.

Now the bids have been sent for evaluation and if all goes well, CMRL will issue the Letter of Acceptance (LOA).

Tender notice for the above work was issued in May 2021 and technical tenders were opened in the month of October.

The 26.1 km corridor of Chennai Metro extends from 4 Light House to Poonamallee Bypass. Corridor 4 will have 28 stations, of which 10 are underground and 18 are elevated.
