Titagarh Firema Spa, the Italian subsidiary of Titagarh Wagons, on July 31 launched the first 3-coach train of the Pune Metro, which will operate on its 31.254 kms. step 1 lines PCMC – Connecting Swargate and Vanaz – Ramwadi.
The contract for the 102 coach rolling stock contract of Pune Metro was awarded to Titagarh Firema in August 2019 with a value of approx Rs. 1125 crores and a time limit of 160 weeks. The first train is expected to reach Pune in September and the last train is expected to be delivered in 2023.
Titagarh had unveiled the trains’ final design After several design iterations and claims in August 2020, these aluminum-bodied coaches with 15.5T axle load will be the lightest in India with the highest safety standards.
The first 3 train-sets are being built at the firm’s plant in Caserta, Italy and we got a glimpse of it. first car body shell in January 2021. The remaining 31 will be built at the Titagarh plant in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, from where the first train is planned to be delivered by the end of the year.

- line 1 (purple line): Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) – Swargate (16.589 km, 14 Stations)
- line 2 (aqua line: Vanaz – Ramwadi (14.665 km, 16 stations)
As you can see, this special train will be deployed to serve the Purple Line and will be stationed at Range Hills Depot.
